A Letter from the Board Chair
When my husband, Harold, and I were considering schools for our daughter, our top priorities were academic excellence and a nurturing environment where she would feel valued.
We sought a school that would challenge her to reach her full potential, celebrate community diversity, offer small class sizes, and provide a range of opportunities in academics, athletics, and the arts. The Park School has not only met but exceeded these expectations.
As longtime educators, it was crucial for us that the school we chose was grounded in research-based best practices to support student growth. At Park, we have witnessed a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to student-centered schedules, innovative learning practices, social-emotional development, and a deep understanding of child development from ages 4 to 14.
Our daughter is thriving at Park, fully embracing all the opportunities the school offers. The Park environment has fostered her independence, strengthened her ability to face challenges, and nurtured her curiosity and confidence, for which we are incredibly grateful. Beyond that, Park is a place that ensures each child has a meaningful, joyous, and enriching experience. It truly feels like home for our family.
I am deeply honored to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees, focusing on maintaining the continued strength and long-term vitality of the schools mission and vision. I am proud to serve and give back to a community that has given my family so much.
Sincerely,
Lesley Ryan Miller

The Board meets regularly throughout the year and conducts much of its substantive work through committees that report to the full Board. All major decisions are taken by vote or in consultation with the full Board. Various members of the faculty and administration may serve on Board committees and in some cases provide staff support for committee work. The Board committees are:
The Audit and Risk Committee oversees the School's risk management program and annual fiscal audits. It is responsible for monitoring the School's compliance with legal, accounting, financial, and reporting processes.
The Buildings and Grounds Committee oversees the development and implementation of the campus master plan, as well as capital investments in the physical plant.
The Committee on Trustees is the nominating committee of the board and responsible for board/governance including board succession, education, policies, and Trustee and Head of School evaluations.
The Development Committee oversees Park's fundraising and external relations programs. It works to ensure the School's giving needs are set and met each year, prioritizing and working to meet capital and endowment requirements. It ensures that Park continues to receive gifts of time and funds from parents, alumni, former parents, grandparents, and friends who support Park.
The DEI Committee supports and monitors the School's mission that commits Park to providing a welcoming, supportive learning environment for a diverse population of students and families.
The Executive Committee, comprised of board officers and committee chairs, can function in place of the full board if the board cannot meet on a particular issue. This committee takes the lead in planning the board's agenda for each meeting.
The Finance Committee oversees long-range financial planning and annual budgeting to secure the financial stability of the School. It is responsible for stewarding the School's financial assets and ensuring that the School's resources are used in alignment with its mission.
The Investment Committee oversees the management of the endowment, including the selection of the investment manager and monitoring investment performance.

The Park School is incorporated under Massachusetts law as a nonprofit educational institution, a tax-exempt entity under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. All parents and guardians are voting members of the Corporation. Additional former parents, representatives of the Alumni Committee, former trustees, and long-term faculty and staff members are elected to the Corporation and the Friends of The Park School Corporation annually. At the Annual Meeting held in June, the members elect trustees and officers.
