What to Expect in Park’s Admission Process
Tours are led by student or parent volunteers to give you the opportunity to learn firsthand about the Park experience. Your tour will introduce you to Park’s expansive campus, and provide opportunities to visit classrooms to see Park’s program at work. The tour is not an evaluative part of our admission process—we want you to feel free to ask all the questions that are important to you and your child.
Your interview with a member of the admission team will provide a chance for you to share your personal perspective and educational hopes for your child. Our favorite interviews are ones where families engage authentically about the things they deeply appreciate about their child as well as the areas they are excited for Park’s program to nurture.
A tour and interview are required of all applying families, even if you attend the Open House. Tours begin in early October.
Applicants to PreK - Grade 5 participate in a 75-minute group visit in January or February. During this visit, they participate in activities similar to those they would experience as Park students and have the opportunity to interact with Park faculty and other applicants.
In lieu of outside standardized testing (ISEE or SSAT), we require all applicants to Grade 6-8 to participate in a 90-minute on-campus assessment in either December or January. During this assessment, students will complete a combination of math, reading, and writing questions appropriate for their current grade. There is no need for students to study/prepare for this assessment.
Recognizing that the application process can be stressful and time-consuming, Park has joined with a number of area schools to standardize the questions families are asked to create a shared parent/guardian statement in Ravenna. If you are applying to more than one school in this group, the answers you write for your Park application can be used in applications to any of these other schools as well.
The Ravenna platform also helps you send requests for teacher recommendations and school reports, which must come directly from your child’s school.
All application materials must be submitted through our Ravenna account by January 15. The application requires payment of the non-refundable application fee, for which qualifying families may receive fee waivers on request by contacting the Admission Office.
We keep the admission decision process separate from the financial aid application process; however, because interest in financial aid is often greater than our available budget, we may place an applicant in our wait pool until sufficient need-based funding is available.
Families interested in financial aid should complete all necessary forms as they are applying for admission. Please see our Tuition and Financial Aid page for more information.
