Park’s athletics program introduces students to a variety of individual and team sports, giving them opportunities to develop sport-specific skills, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning. Students also learn the importance of mutual respect and personal responsibility, they form deeper friendships with teammates, and they gain self-confidence.

Park coaches teach and expect good sportsmanship and cooperation. They encourage their teams to exhibit a healthy winning spirit and a strong sense of fair play. Most coaches are also teachers, and they expect the same degree of hard work and commitment on the playing field that they require in the classroom.

Intramural Sports & Interscholastic Competition

Park’s athletics program is divided into two parts: intramural sports for Grade 4 and interscholastic competition for Grades 5–8.

Intramural Sports for Grade 4

After-school sports provide an opportunity for students to learn fundamental skills and tactics in a wide range of team sports. Athletes meet three afternoons per week for intramural sports and training sessions. Students may sign up to participate in just one of the three athletics seasons, or more than one, and will be introduced to a different series of sports in each season.

Athletics for Grades 5–8

More than 90 percent of Upper Division students opt to play interscholastic sports on our varsity or junior varsity teams at some point during each year. Students are placed on varsity and jv teams based on their age, ability, experience, and readiness.  Interscholastic competition (against other schools) is offered in the following sports: Cross Country, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Soccer (Boys), Soccer (Girls), Volleyball, Basketball (Boys), Basketball (Girls), Ice Hockey, Track & Field, Lacrosse (Boys), Lacrosse (Girls), Softball, and Ultimate Frisbee.
