The Upper Division arts electives offer students in Grades 6-8 opportunities to explore Dramatic Arts through a number of electives, ranging from playwriting and puppetry to Improv, theater design, devising, acting, and more. The range of choices allows students the chance to exercise their choice-making skills and empowers them to explore new interests. They discover new passions and develop greater depth in the topics that intrigue them most.

Creating Something Together

These electives provide opportunities to explore various aspects of Dramatic Arts as individuals and members of a creative and collaborative classroom. Students gain experience in meeting deadlines, the actor’s toolkit, creative problem solving, flexibility, and trust.

Drama provides students the opportunity to create something together, as they develop their confidence, focus, collaboration, creativity, and empathy. Their growth is equally rooted in the value placed on effective process and on product – celebrated each semester with a showcase presentation to the community. In our after school program, students can also choose to participate in rehearsing and mounting large theatrical productions. 

 

The Arts at Park

Students are required to explore each of the three arts disciplines (Musical Arts, Dramatic Arts, and Visual Arts) during their time in the Upper Division.  They must complete two classes in each of the three Arts departments during the final three years in the Upper Division. Students with a passion for Dramatic Arts are able to choose additional course offerings beyond these requirements.
